Professor Matthew K. O. Lee is Vice-President (Development and External Relations) of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and Secretary-General of the City University of Hong Kong Foundation. He concurrently holds a tenured position as Chair Professor of Information Systems & E-Commerce at CityU. He was Director of Communications and Public Relations, and Residence Master of Jockey Club Harmony Hall at CityU. He holds 6 university degrees (including a PhD from Manchester University) and has won many prestigious University scholarships, including a College Scholarship from Oxford University where he read for one of his degrees. He has completed the Internet Law Program at Harvard Law School and Executive Education Programs at MIT. Professor Lee is qualified as a Barrister-at- Law (Hong Kong), and a Chartered Engineer (UK Engineering Council).

Professor Lee’s research areas include knowledge management, electronic commerce, and online social networks. His research in these areas have received over eleven thousand citations worldwide. He is currently Chairman of the Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (HKCPEC) advising the Secretary for Commerce, Economic and Development (SCED) on relevant economic and cooperation matters. He is also an independent non-executive director of two major IT and financial services enterprises listed in the main board of the HK Stock Exchange.
